I received several nice gifts for my birthday. My kids are excited about all of them...they see the benefit to themselves in the types of gifts I get. (Ever since I got a trampoline for Mother's Day, they are pretty certain that any gift for me, will be shared and enjoyed by them.) And they are mostly right.
