Natalie's friend, Hannah, celebrated her 14th birthday last night at a restaurant called "Greek Cusina" in downtown Portland. I went with her to visit with Sharon, Hannah's mom. The food was delicious and the entertainment fun. There was live Greek music and someone teaching the girls and other patrons Greek dances (similar to dancing in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".) I was thinking it would be a fun place to take Todd and the boys....until the belly dancer came out.
At the end of the evening, the girls got to break plates. I am not sure the tradition behind that but they loved it. At the count of 3 in Greek, they threw white ceramic plates across the room and they shattered to pieces and everyone cheered.
